Statement of new Public Service Commission Chair Barve:
“I want to thank Governor Wes Moore for his confidence in me to lead the Public Service Commission during this extraordinary period of energy transition in Maryland and in our nation.
The Governor, Chair Emeritus Fred Hoover and I agree that this moment in history requires an assortment of new policy and legislative approaches – to control energy bills and to build a more stable and sustainable energy grid. I will boldly collaborate with the Maryland Energy Administration, the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Maryland General Assembly. I look forward to continuing our advocacy on behalf of Maryland ratepayers before the regional grid operator, PJM, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
The Maryland Public Service Commission will succeed because of the quality and the tireless work of our staff. To paraphrase Isaac Newton – if I am able to see far, it is only because I stand on the shoulders of giants like the members of the Public Service Commission and our superb staff.”
