Virtual Public Comment Hearing 1/14 for Hagerstown Light Rate Increase Request

(BALTIMORE, MD) – Customers and other interested members of the public are invited to comment on the rate increase request by Hagerstown Light Department. A virtual public comment hearing will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. before Chief Public Utility Law Judge Kristin Case Lawrence.
Hagerstown Light Department, which serves more than 17,000 customers in the city, seeks to increase its operating revenue by $782,990 and states that this proposed increase would result in an approximate two percent overall increase in revenues. For the average residential customer, this would mean a monthly bill increase of $2.60.
Those who would like to speak at the hearing must sign up (by January 12, 2026) through the Calendly app on the Commission’s website, www.psc.state.md.us:
- Under ‘Featured Topics’ on the right side of the webpage, click on ‘Public Comment Hearing Sign Up’;
- Click on ‘Case 9836’, and the hearing date and time (January 14 at 6 p.m.);
- Click ‘Next’, enter name and email
- Click ‘Schedule Event’
Once the sign up process is complete, registrants will receive a Zoom link.

In addition to the hearing, written comments can be sent electronically through the Commission’s online portal at https://www.psc.state.md.us/make-a-public-comment/, or by mail. So that they are noted in the proper case file, all comments should reference Case No. 9836 and can be sent through January 14, 2026.
