Public Comment Hearings Scheduled for Maryland-American Water Company Rate Increase Request

(BALTIMORE, MD) – Customers and other interested members of the public are invited to comment on the rate increase request by Maryland-American Water Company for its Bel Air and Severn water systems. Two public comment hearings will be held before the Maryland Public Service Commission as follows:

Bel Air (Harford County)
Monday, December 8, 2025 at 6 p.m.
Harford County Council Chambers
212 S. Bond Street, 2nd Floor in Bel Air

Severn (Anne Arundel County)
Monday, December 15, 2025 at 6 p.m.
Severn Center, 1160A Reece Road in Severn

Maryland-American Water filed its application in August 2025. The company is seeking an additional revenue requirement of $2,856,711 for the Bel Air system and $88,538 for the Severn system. The company’s Bel Air district serves more than 5,000 customers in the Town of Bel Air and the surrounding areas of Harford County; the Severn district, acquired in November 2024, serves approximately 103 customers in Anne Arundel County.

Anyone wishing to speak at either hearing, please send an email to kimberly.schock@maryland.gov by 12 noon on Friday, December 5, 2025 for the first hearing, or by Friday, December 12, 2025 for the second hearing. Please include ‘MAWC Speaker’ in the subject line of the email and indicate which hearing is to be attended.
